Dr. Wayde Marr

Term of Service:
January, 2018 to December, 2020

Co-founder and President of Vector Technology Institute

Dr. Wayde Marr has served the IT industry for over 29 years, playing a variety of engineering roles as a Telecommunications Technician, then as a SCADA engineer and later as a Systems Development Engineer. Transitioning into the role as an educator, he chose to continue to serve the industry through the pathway of education and training, by creating an institution specializing in the field of Information and Communication Technology with the vision of becoming the premier ICT institution of Learning throughout the Caribbean and Latin America.

As co-founder and president of Vector Technology Institute, he led the institute to becoming a formal part of the Jamaican University system, registered under the University Council of Jamaica.

Taking a sabbatical from Vector Tech in 1999, Wayde joined Herzing College (Atlanta Campus) as Academic Dean and led its transition to University status. He also joined the online faculty of Devry University where he was later appointed a Visiting Professor.

Earlier in 1984, Wayde founded Vector Design Limited, a computer systems house, providing digital solutions to commercial entities involved in distribution through financial services. As an early adopter, Vector Design navigated the pitfalls resulting from exposure to the problems and risks common to early-stage product testing and deployment; and the challenges of the absence of standards.

Aside from the position as JITSA’s president, Wayde serves on the committee for the Higher Education Implementation, a committee within the Ministry of Education, tasked with the transformation of Jamaica’s Higher education sector.
